College Application Timeline: July 2025 Deadlines and Next Steps #college #collegeadmissions
What are the most important college application dates in July every parent needs to keep in mind? Let’s break them down.
First, if your teen is planning to take the ACT, one of the national summer test dates happens this month.
The ACT is a college entrance exam that tests students in English, Math, Reading, and Science. It’s used by many colleges during the admissions process — Even if a school is Test Optional, we recommend you take the ACT or SAT. You do not have to submit and we recommend that you do not submit to any school until you have seen your results. The Science Exam is optional. You need to review if the major you are applying to requires the exam scores. The Essay portion is also optional.
There are additional test dates available later in the fall, but the summer is a great time to test while school is out — and it gives students time to retake it before deadlines if needed. Students need to register now for the upcoming fall exams as seats and locations are already filled up! It is first come, first serve!
Also August 1, three major applications will be opening we wanted to get the information to you NOW:
– The Common Application & the Coalition Application, which are both used to apply to many of the major colleges & universities in the United States and Abroad.
The Common App allows students to apply to multiple private and public colleges across the U.S. with one core application. If you have already opened it, not a problem, it just resets and you wont lose the information you have already added.
The Coalition Application which is accepted at 150 private colleges and universities. You can find that list on the coalition website.
– The University of California Application, required for all UC schools
The UC Application is a separate system specifically for the University of California campuses — like UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC Santa Barbara, and more. It has its own essay prompts and questions.
That means now is the time to prepare. Encourage your teen to:
– Start drafting their personal statement
– Finalize their college list
– Build their activities and honors section
