How Do You Decide Between the SAT and ACT? #collegeadmissions #test #testing #collegetips
Are you trying to decide between the SAT and ACT, or wondering which one is better for your student’s college goals?
Let’s break it down.
The SAT focuses on three core sections: math, reading, and writing.
It is now completely digital, with built-in calculator tools available right in the test.
SAT subject tests no longer exist, so students only need to focus on the main test format.
The ACT also includes math, reading, and writing, but it has an additional OPTIONAL science section.
If your student is planning to major in a science-related field, the ACT is a great way to showcase that strength.
The ACT also offers two formats:
The traditional paper-and-pencil version, and a digital option that will become the standard starting in September 2025.
The new digital ACT will be shorter and will include helpful features like screen magnifiers, answer elimination tools, and faster score reporting.
Students will still be able to choose the format that works best for them during the transition period.
Now let’s talk about upcoming test dates.
September Dates are closed.
At this time, the October 4th SAT exam is full, and no more seats are available.
Students can still sign up for the waitlist, which is handled on a first-come, first-served basis.
If a seat opens up, you will be contacted the day before the exam with details.
Looking ahead, the next available SAT exam will be on Saturday, November 8th, and the registration deadline is Friday, October 24th.
Make sure to register early to avoid the waitlist situation.
Choosing between the SAT and ACT depends on your student’s strengths, goals, and major.
