We're the team behind your student.

About us

We're a team of passionate individuals who help students find their best-fit college, prepare the best college applications and essays they can, and help their families afford college. The team members of College Help Squad are here because we found our calling — helping students and families with the journey to college. We’re all extremely passionate about what we do, and invest a lot of time, energy, and emotion into each and every one of our students. We struggle with them as they struggle through the applications and essays, we agonize with them when they have to make their choice as to which college to attend, and we celebrate all their victories and accomplishments as they progress from high school into their best-fit college. Where some college planning and counseling companies pride themselves on being large, we’ve learned that bigger isn’t better. When you work with College Help Squad, your student’s College Planner is a co-founder, and their College Counselor is a co-founder. Your student won’t be passed around to whomever the “on-call” planner or counselor is that day — they will work closely with a small team of people who will get to know the student and their family, and know what is best to advise and how best to help. The College Help Squad team members all have children who have gone through or are going through the college planning and counseling process. We understand the stress, the ups and downs, and anxiety this process can put on a family. With some college planning and counseling companies, they are in actuality a financial planning company that just uses college as a way to get new clients — they offer college planning and counseling, but their primary purpose and revenue is getting families into whatever financial product is best for their profit margin.

Congratulations to Tatevik at Burbank High for getting accepted to Oxford Scholastica Academy for their Summer Pre-College Program! Pre-college programs are an opportunity to visit a college in the major setting that you are considering. This is a great way to see the college in action and for the professors to get to know you better. You can maybe even get a letter of recommendation! Typically these are one week or two week summer sessions, but always make sure it is run by the college directly, and be careful, there are outside vendors notorious for setting up summer classes. They end up costing a fortune and are not run by the department at the college. Let me know if you want to learn more about summer programs! Congrats again to Tatevik!

The waiting game for funds can be nerve racking. Students are jumping around "YAY, I got in" and parents do not know if they are getting aid yet.

This is horrible for incoming freshmen. Imagine being accepted but you have no idea if you are getting and/or qualify for financial aid at the school. The waiting game is going to be longer for parents! https://lnkd.in/gGsxhd9e

Something to think about..... What would you do? Kicked out of the university lecture Subject: Legal studies. First lecture. The professor enters the lecture hall. He looks around. "You there in the 8th row. Can you tell me your name?" He asks a student. "My name is Sandra" says a voice. The professor asks her, "Please leave my lecture hall. I don't want to see you in my lecture." Everyone is quiet. The student is irritated, slowly packs her things and stands up. "Faster please" she is asked. She doesn't dare to say anything and leaves the lecture hall. The professor keeps looking around. The participants are scared. "Why are there laws?" he asks the group. All quiet. Everyone looks at the others. "What are laws for?" he asks again. "Social order" is heard from a row A student says "To protect a person's personal rights." Another says "So that you can rely on the state." The professor is not satisfied. "Justice" calls out a student. The professor smiling. She has his attention. "Thank you very much. Did I behave unfairly towards your classmate earlier?" Everyone nods. "Indeed I did. Why didn't anyone protest? Why didn't any of you try to stop me? Why didn't you want to prevent this injustice?" he asks. Nobody answers. "What you just learned you wouldn't have understood in 1,000 hours of lectures if you hadn't lived it. You didn't say anything just because you weren't affected yourself. This attitude speaks against you and against life. You think as long as it doesn't concern you, it's none of your business. I'm telling you, if you don't say anything today and don't bring about justice, then one day you too will experience injustice and no one will stand before you. Justice lives through us all. We have to fight for it." “In life and at work, we often live next to each other instead of with each other. We console ourselves that the problems of others are none of our business. We go home and are glad that we were spared. But it's also about standing up for others. Every day an injustice happens in business, in sports or on the tram. Relying on someone to sort it out is not enough. It is our duty to be there for others. Speaking for others when they cannot.
