Some Cal State Schools Are Still Accepting Applications #collegeapps #calstate #collegdecision

Did you know some Cal State schools are still accepting applications?

I have had families reach out because they were not happy with the financial aid offer, they were not fully sold on the schools their student got into, or they had a change of heart and decided they want to stay closer to home. If that is your family right now, it is worth taking another look at the Cal State system, because some campuses are still accepting applications depending on the campus and the major.

There are real examples of that right now. Sonoma State is still open through April 30, 2026 for first-year and transfer students, excluding nursing. Cal State San Bernardino is accepting undergraduate applications through March 31, 2026 for many applicants, and Cal State Channel Islands is still accepting transfer applications for non-impacted majors through June 3, 2026.

So if your student is still considering a Cal State, go back into Cal State Apply and see what is still available. This is one of those moments where families sometimes think the process is done, but there may still be options on the table.

I also want families to know that some colleges use open enrollment. That means they continue taking applications until they fill their spots. So even outside the Cal State system, it is always worth calling a college directly and asking whether they are still accepting applications. That one phone call can give you more options than you thought you had.
