What Should You Be Doing This Summer? (College Admissions Edition) #college #collegeadmissions

Students — if you’re applying to college this year, summer isn’t just a break. It’s your chance to build something that actually matters on your application and in your life.

  • Don’t spend your whole summer on the couch or glued to video games.
  • Find something that matters to you — and go make an impact with it.
  • I always tell my students: you don’t need to do something just to check a box. Do something meaningful — something that reflects who you are.
  • One of my students loves origami. It’s calming for him, especially when school feels overwhelming. This summer, he’s creating original pieces and donating them to the City of Hope Children’s Cancer Center. That’s more than just volunteering — it’s a story. It’s his story.
  • I also work with students who love to cook and bake. Some prepare meals for Project Angel Food — helping people with illnesses who can’t cook for themselves. Others donate baked goods for events and fundraisers.
  • These aren’t just activities. These are real, personal commitments. And they make a difference — not just on a college application, but in someone’s life.
  • That’s what schools want to see: who you are when no one’s grading you.

This summer, follow your passion and turn it into purpose. If you need help finding the right project or building it into a standout story for your application, reach out.  Let college help squad be apart of your process.
